Object Name |
Kaleidoscope Quilt |
Scope & Content |
Quilt Name: Kaleidoscope (42x56) this type of imagery was unimagined before 1816, when the kaleidoscope was invented by Scottish physicist, Sir David Brewster. Influenced by the instrument's colorful geometric images, women began shifting away from classical patterns and quilting with large pieces of fabric. Instead, small, multicolor pieces were meticulously sewn together to replicate the kaleidoscope's brilliant designs. This quilt was pieced by Lynn Lothman and hand quilted by Sri in indonesia. |
