Quilting: The Fabric of Country Life Exhibit |
Object Name |
Charm Quilt |
Scope & Content |
Quilt Name: Charm Quilt (78x57) This Quilt is made from fabrics exchanged by the Charm Ladies, a Subgroup of the Conneaut, Ohio Quilt Guild. Fabrics date from the 1970s and the block shape is tumbler. A charm quilt contains pieces that are the same in size and shape, yet each piece of fabric is different. The earliest charm quilts had no borders or sashings (strips of fabric between quilt blocks). Historically, there have been four time periods of charm quilts popularity: the late 1800s, the 1920s, the 1980s and the early 2000s. This quilt is owned by Ariene Bowen Kiborn. |
